This workshop requires a minimum number of students
to sign on
and is restricted to a maximum of 10.
An insightful 6 week work shop in oil painting. This
course take you through painting a still life or landscape during weekly 3
hour sessions. You’ll work with the visual elements and fundamentals
first developed by the old masters through developing your work from a
preliminary charcoal drawing, to the under painting, and to the full color
palette. Each participant will leave with a developed oil painting
and insights into an approach which can be utilized in any future oil
painting. Basics such as scumbling, velatura, glazing, and other
techniques will be revealed by doing in each participant’s painting.
Individual attention and demonstrations.
This class works towards the traditional aesthetic which
relies of representing light and shadow. Instructor will have
quality photographic reference available for subject of paintings, however
for any participant who would like to provide their own subject reference

Additionally, participants will need to have basic oil painting colors and
supplies, specified medium, easel, and a few other miscellaneous items.
Mike will contact all participants with a more detailed list prior to the
first meeting.
