‘FACE- 2 -FACE’

A week-long intensive practical workshop encompassing

Physical Theatre & Mask

For those who have some theatre experience
and are inspired to do more!

This workshop will open your eyes to new skills and provide an excellent foundation for your future development and interest in theatre. Participants will explore nonverbal communication, physical theatre, and the power of a fixed attitude - THE MASK

For: Students 12 - 15 years of age
Dates: Monday, June 23 - Friday, June 27, 2008
Time: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Location: L/A Arts, 221 Lisbon Street, Lewiston
Cost: $200

Early Bird Special: $170 if registered and paid by May 1, 2008

o Wear comfortable clothing.

o Premises will be open from 8:30am - 3:30pm.
Prompt pick-up is a must.

o On Friday, June 27th the group will present a ‘sharing’
of their work - 3:00 - 4:00pm

o Bottled water will be provided each day.

o Students need to bring any snacks and lunch they may require.

To insure personal attention, only 14 placements are available for this workshop. The workshop relies on a ‘teamwork’ approach to the arts, therefore those attending need to bring an appropriate attitude and work ethic to the week.

There is a weekend course being planned, which follows up from this program, scheduled for the fall. Those attending this week long workshop will get first notification! More details in the fall.

The workshop will be directed by Andrew Harris, Executive Director of L/A Arts and longtime theatre practitioner and arts educator. Recent professional work includes appearing on stage at Portland Stage Company (The Foreigner) and The Public Theatre (Enchanted April), on the History Channel Film Desperate Crossing, the Untold Story of the Mayflower, and in an independent film (Pretty in the Face). Additional commitments include working as an Affiliate Artist at P.S.C. and as Artistic Director of the Maine Performing Arts Festival, in Bethel. His experience and work with masks came about through his formation of a medieval theatre company which toured each summer for 16 years
