Orchid Ensemble Concert (preK – 6)

The Orchid Ensemble
The Orchid Ensemble, Canada’s
award-winning music group, will perform on-site at Farwell Elementary
Schools on November 4th for the entire student populations,
pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade. During the school concerts, students
will learn to sing a simple song in Mandarin Chinese and use their bodies
to create percussion accompaniment for the musicians as they learn about
the connections between traditional Eastern and contemporary Western
music.
The Kiwanis Club of Auburn-Lewiston
has generously sponsored the program as part of their growing relationship
with Longley School. “Bringing world-class professional musicians, like
the members of The Orchid Ensemble, into our public schools is a prime
example of how L/A Arts’ Arts-in-Education programming affords our
students one-of-a-kind experiences that break down cultural barriers and
foster creativity,” says Bess Welden, L/A Arts’ new Arts-in-Education
Coordinator.
