The 2007-2008 school year will mark the
second year of Readers Theatre – a program aimed at enhancing reading
comprehension, refining reading fluency, developing stronger communication
skills, and boosting the self-confidence and self-esteem of young
elementary students within Lewiston and Auburn.
The 2007-2008 Readers Theatre Troupe
consists of Erik Moody, Tavia Gilbert, and Elisabeth Hardcastle. This
talented group brings with them many years of professional theatre
experience and a genuine enthusiasm for sharing their love of theatre with
local students and educators.
Readers Theatre will begin the first
week of January 2008. The program will be brought to three elementary
schools in Lewiston (Martel, Farwell, and Montello) and 6 schools in
Auburn (Washburn, East Auburn, Park Avenue, Sherwood Heights, Walton, and
Fairview). The program is designed for 4th grade students. Each classroom
involved with the project will receive an introductory performance by the
Readers Theatre Troupe and three classroom workshops.
