4th grade
students will participate in Readers Theatre this year. They will receive
an introductory performance by the Readers Theatre Troupe and three
classroom workshops. The Auburn schedule is still be set.

Singer-songwriter Martin Swinger will spend two days (February 4, 5) with
K-1 grade students at Washburn Elementary. Swinger will be working with
the young students to teach songwriting in the classroom. Students learn
about the language arts basics of subject development, rhyme, meter,
blocking out a blank verse and following through on their subject. Using
this process Swinger and the class write songs based on what they are
studying so they end up with a song that helps them remember the facts of
a lesson.
