April 24 Artist Talk at
Gallery 5 on Digital Submission
Artists,
do you know how to prepare a digital submission for juried art shows? If
not, you are invited to the Artist Talk at L/A Arts Gallery 5, 49 Lisbon
Street, Lewiston on Thursday, April 24, from 6:30 – 7:30pm.
Tammie
Grieshaber, gallery curator and photographer, will facilitate a discussion
about digitally photographing your work and preparing the files for best
viewing on a computer. "The days of submitting art work on slides are
waning. In our digital times, most requests are now for digital
submissions," explains Grieshaber. "Though point and shoot digital cameras
take great family snapshots, taking quality photos of your art work is a
bit more complex but easy enough to learn."
The
Artist Talk will cover camera settings and lighting to take good photos;
how to crop and size the photos in Adobe PhotoElements; and file name
protocols. The information is transferable to a variety of other software
applications and to Mac or PC. Handouts will be available.
Grieshaber has many years experience teaching introductory digital
photography and photo editing. Her goal is always to help students develop
foundation skills so that they can continue to learn on their own. A
self-taught photographer and digital artist, she has also participated in
the Rockland Photographic Workshops, former Camden Photographic School,
and a variety of Adobe sponsored workshops.

Seating
for artist talks/workshops in Gallery 5 is limited, so please call L/A
Arts to reserve a space: 782-7228. While workshops are free, donations are
gladly accepted.
L/A Arts Gallery 5 is located
in Lyceum Hall, 49 Lisbon Street, Lewiston, and promotes quality works of
art in all media. It serves as an educational resource for those who are
familiar with original art and those for whom original art is a new
experience. Through exhibitions and programs, Gallery 5 provides a unique
venue for contemporary art in Maine.
The
Gallery is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday 5-8 pm, and by
appointment: 576-4805. Gallery 5 is underwritten by Fuel, bistro and wine
bar, with season support from Mechanics Savings Bank.
